Multiple Shipping Container Calculator

Easily calculate how many containers you need for your shipment with our Multiple Shipping Container Calculator. This tool helps you plan cargo efficiently by suggesting the most suitable ocean container size based on your package dimensions and weight.

The Multiple Shipping Container feature in CBM Calculator helps you easily plan the right ocean container for your shipment. By entering the dimensions and weight of your packages, the program automatically calculates and suggests the most suitable container size.

This tool works not only for single package types but also for multiple products with different dimensions and weights. It takes into account both volume and weight capacity of shipping containers and provides accurate results for real-world cargo planning. If your cargo cannot fit into one container, the program will automatically suggest multiple containers.

For every calculation, you will see:

  • Recommended Container Type (20ft, 40ft, or 40ft High Cube, etc.)
  • Volume Utilization % – how much space your cargo occupies in the container
  • Weight Utilization % – how much of the container’s maximum weight is used
  • Total Number of Containers Required

This feature ensures you don’t waste money on oversized containers or underestimate the number required. It’s a simple yet powerful way to optimize your logistics, reduce costs, and save time.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  1. How is the container suggestion calculated?

The system uses the internal capacity (CBM and weight limit) of standard ocean containers and compares it with your total cargo dimensions and weight. It then recommends the best-fit container or multiple containers if required.

  2. What if my cargo exceeds one container’s capacity?

The program will automatically suggest multiple containers to accommodate your entire shipment. Each container’s utilization will be calculated separately.

  3. Can I enter mixed packages?

Yes. You can add multiple products with different dimensions and weights. The tool will calculate the combined volume and weight and suggest the required container(s).

  4. What types of containers are supported?

Currently, the program provides suggestions for the most commonly used container types: 20 ft Container 40 ft Container 40 ft High Cube Container (Custom dimensions can also be entered in settings if needed.)

  5. Does this program show loading arrangement or stacking?

No. The Multiple Shipping Container program provides capacity and container suggestions only. If you need a detailed 3D loading arrangement, you can use our Cargo Load Planner tool.

  6. Why is both volume % and weight % shown?

Because containers are limited by both space and maximum allowable weight. Your cargo may fill a container by weight before it fills it by volume, or vice versa. Showing both gives you a clearer picture of utilization.
