About CBM Calculator
At CBM Calculator and Cargo Load Planner, we make shipping and logistics simple.
- CBM Calculator helps you instantly calculate shipment volume (CBM), weight, and container utilization for single or multiple packages.
- Cargo Load Planner takes it further by optimizing how your cargo fits inside 20ft, 40ft, and high cube containers—saving space, reducing freight costs, and eliminating guesswork.
Trusted by businesses, exporters, freight forwarders, and individuals worldwide, our tools are designed to reduce errors, save time, and make container loading smarter and more efficient.
We had developed proforma invoice, invoice, packing list (maintaining different styles of packing list is a different story) and many custom specific documents. During all this experience we strongly feel that people mainly face problem in calculation of weight and volume of their shipment container.
CBM Calculator
CBM Calculator started back in July 2003, when we were developing an Export Management Software for a sports goods exporter. Before this project, our team had already built several ERP systems for local clients, but this was our first experience in export and logistics software.
As part of that solution, we developed modules for proforma invoices, commercial invoices, packing lists (with different packing styles), and other export-related documents. During the process, we discovered a major challenge that many businesses face: accurately calculating shipment volume (CBM) and container utilization.
Although container load calculation may look simple, it involves several complex factors:
- Product quantity to be shipped
- Packing quantity per carton
- Standard and non-standard packs
- Net and gross product weight
- Carton dimensions (length, width, height)
- Carton weight
- Container volume and weight limitations (which can vary by country or shipping line)
- Even small errors can result in wasted space, higher freight charges, or delays.
To solve this problem, we built a small calculation tool inside our export management system. That tool evolved and was released in 2007 as a standalone solution—CBM Calculator.
Today, CBM Calculator is widely used around the world for:
- Cubic meter (CBM) and cubic feet calculations
- Volumetric weight calculation (air & sea freight)
- Container space utilization
- Shipment planning for multiple packages
It has grown from a simple feature into a trusted global tool in logistics, freight forwarding, and international shipping.
Cargo Load Planner
Building on the success of CBM Calculator, we developed Cargo Load Planner (CLP) to solve a more advanced logistics challenge: how to optimally load different package types into shipping containers.
While CBM Calculator focuses on measuring cargo volume and weight, Cargo Load Planner goes a step further by using intelligent algorithms to:
- Determine how many packages of a product can fit into a given container
- Optimize loading of multiple product types with different dimensions
- Suggest the best container type (20 ft, 40 ft, 40 ft High Cube, etc.) for your shipment
- Reduce wasted space and shipping costs by maximizing load efficiency
Cargo Load Planner is especially useful for businesses shipping a mix of products with varying sizes and weights. It helps exporters, freight forwarders, and logistics companies save time and improve container utilization.
Our Mission
From a small calculation program to a globally used set of tools, our mission has always been the same:
to make logistics simpler, smarter, and more efficient by reducing human error and saving time in shipment planning.
Whether you’re a business, a freight forwarder, or an individual shipper, CBM Calculator and Cargo Load Planner are here to help you optimize every shipment.
